The Colorado Bureau of Investigation
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), established in 1967, provides investigative, forensic, and criminal justice data services to support local, county, and state agencies. With more than 330 members, the CBI delivers expertise in criminal investigations, forensic science, and records management, while also overseeing statewide systems like the Sex Offender Registry and criminal history records. Operating primarily as a “by request” agency, it assists with complex cases such as homicides, cyber crimes, human trafficking, and organized crime. Through its regional offices and specialized units, the CBI works to enhance public safety, strengthen community partnerships, and uphold justice across Colorado.

Persons Who Wander Grant
The Supporting Recovery Programs – Persons Who Wander Grant is a funding opportunity administered by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for Fiscal Year 2025–26. This program assists local governments and their designees in developing and maintaining recovery programs that help locate individuals with medical conditions—such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, brain injury, or other cognitive or neurological disorders—who are at risk of wandering. Grant funds may be used for equipment, technology, training, and outreach to enhance search and rescue efforts, improve response times, and ultimately save lives across Colorado communities.
